Monday Evening Musings

Not much to report from my part of the world this evening.  Watching old episodes of Bramwell, a British series about a young woman in physician's training.  It makes me realize that women in health care whether they are nurses, physicians, or others have all had their struggles in trying to be taken seriously in health care.  Physicians have one up on us nurses as we have to overcome the lack of understanding that physicians have about the caring side of health care.

While we have plenty of research to substantiate the need for nursing care and how it supports health states, we have the unfortunate stigma of being labelled as an "art."  While there is always an art to delivering good care, it is a label that has historically placed nursing in lesser regard than medicine.

Well, fortunately with physicians' programs todays have brought about a new generation of doctors that realize that nurses are on the same team-the take the best care of the patient as possible team.

I not even sure there is a point to my rambling on this evening.  Just felt good to get some words down on "paper."
